The New Leader’s Club, with Matthew Hill

Welcome to the New Leader’s Club. If you are newly promoted and need to build your confidence, credibility and competence in leading teams, creating vision and push for change then you are reading in the right place.

In the coming weeks we will take you on a journey from newbie to professional. You will learn about “self” and “others” in a way that makes sense, fits with your lifestyle and will provide quick hits of value that you can apply immediately in your work environment.

Beginnings. – What is your Leadership Purpose?

Do you know why you took on extra responsibility and stepped up to leadership? Now is the time to reflect upon your motivation, uncover your essence and be proud of your leadership identity.

Exercise – Imaging you are at the end of your long and successful leader’s life. You have just moved on up to the executive board room in the sky and your colleagues and friends have chosen to remember you with a special service.

You closest work buddy picks up the microphone and begins to summarise your achievements in the area of leading a team.
Question? What do you imagine she / he will say about you?

The answer will probably contain some of your key motivation for taking on the role and your purpose in life.
Feel free to complete the exercise and see if your “inner game” becomes apparent to you.

Let me know how you get on or, if you need a little help,

Until the next time,

Matthew Hill
